Job Overview
The pharmacy service at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has a high profile and is well integrated into multi-disciplinary teams, providing a much valued contribution to patient care. This is an exciting time for our Pharmacy Department as we continue to improve and develop our clinical pharmacy service.
We are looking for a clinical pharmacist to join our clinical team for one year to support the delivery of the clinical pharmacy service to a range of clinical specialties across acute, medical, surgical and women’s and children’s
wards, as well as the anticoagulation clinic and aseptic unit. The successful candidate will be a role model with the vision, insight, and self-motivation to implement change and to further develop your skills in preparation for a more advanced role. You will assist in the delivery of medicines optimisation
through high-quality care, formulary reviews, and clinical audits and will also be involved in the training and supervision of various members of the Pharmacy team. You will also support the dispensary and
partake in the late, on call and weekend service.
Main duties of the job
Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will give you the ability to gain co-operation from clinicians, nurses, and managers to achieve positive and timely outcomes to benefit patients and achieve organisational objectives.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced pharmacists with a Clinical Diploma or equivalent relevant experience.
We are accepting applications from pharmacists nearing the completion of their training to start in March 2024
The role includes participation in a variety of trust-wide multidisciplinary groups, giving an ideal career opportunity to develop both clinical and managerial skills.

- Methodical with effective organisational skills in the workplace. Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to supervise the work of junior staff and provide constructive feedback on performance
- Able interpret and summarise a wide range of clinical information and demonstrate appropriate clinical knowledge and application
- Good knowledge and understanding of the formulation, preparation and therapeutic action of medicines
- Able to present written information clearly, concisely and accurately

- Significant experience post registration
- Broad clinical pharmacy experience and knowledge of therapeutics
- Recent clinical pharmacy experience within medicine and surgery (general and / or specialised) and enthusiasm to develop specialisation in these clinical areas.
- Commitment and evidence of professional updating and formal continuous professional development (CPD)
- Experience of working in hospital environment post registration
- Knowledge of directorate pharmacy services
- Evidence of involvement in pharmacy practice research and/or audit
- Previous experience of attendance on consultant ward rounds
- Previous experience of working in pharmacy technical services
Essential criteria
- Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
- Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Studying for Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent Qualification or evidence of equivalent experience
- Completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent or equivalent advanced practice supported by training
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and working towards membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Faculty scheme
- Member of the UKCPA
- Independent Prescriber
