Global Head Of Early Commercial - Vaccines And Immune Therapies

Vaccines & Immune Therapies (V&I) bridges science and commercial, integrating corporate, portfolio, therapy areas and product strategies, providing strategic direction from early-stage research through to commercialization.
What you will do:
As the Global Head of Early Commercial - V&I, your accountabilities are two-fold; you will lead the V&I Commercial strategy for our early commercial portfolio - Candidate Drug Investment Decision (CDID) – Phase IIB and you will be accountable for understanding industry innovations and trends in the V&I space.

• Provide strategic commercial input into the product development teams to ensure alignment of product strategy and clinical development plan
• Drive ambitious life cycle management opportunities into product strategy
• Partner closely with the Business Development team, assessing and prioritizing commercial opportunities in collaboration with the other commercial heads.
• Present the commercial strategy to governance bodies (e.g. Early and Late stage product committees)
• Develop and maintain networks of clinical external experts, industry leaders, leading academic scientists, payers, and business development
• Lead the V&I Commercial strategy for the early portfolio in liaison with the VP, Commercial V&I
• Represent V&I Commercial at Early Stage Product Committee (ESPC) and Research Boards
• Lead the Early Commercial team, manage annual budgets and work with VP, Commercial V&I to advise on resourcing and capability needs for early assets
  

Essential for the role:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferable in Business, Medical or Life Sciences)
• 10+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry
• Shown leader and significant experience in healthcare or biopharma industry, including Vaccines/Infectious Diseases experience and expertise
• Significant and in-depth understanding of commercial strategy, methodologies and tools (product profiling and positioning, forecasting, pricing & reimbursement, market research techniques, competitive intelligence resources)
• Experience of crafting brand strategy whilst the understanding of product profile was incomplete and evolving
• Detailed understanding of the drug development process and the need for commercial line of sight throughout
• Understanding of future healthcare market challenges
• Exposure to and track record of effective management of senior decision-making/governance bodies
• Confirmed experience of engaging with and using insights from external customers e.g. KEEs, prescribers, payors
• Experience and efficiency in the presentation of written and verbal cases to the senior executive teams
• Experience to build a positive relationship with third parties as an AZ Ambassador at Board and Executive Committee level
• Demonstrates structured and measured leadership, interactions and decision making during periods of high intensity in external or internal deliberations

• An advanced degree (MBA, MSc or PhD)
