Pharmacy is seen as a key resource within Acute Medicine areas and there is work ongoing to expand and develop the vital role Acute Medicine Pharmacy service provides. Pharmacy services are highly respected by the MDT. We pride ourselves in having a rich learning culture with a focus on professional development and staff wellbeing.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and innovative Pharmacist to join our friendly Acute Medicine Pharmacy team, which is part of a forward thinking, patient focused clinical pharmacy service.
As a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Acute Medicine, you will work within a well-established team including Lead Pharmacist, Advanced Pharmacist, Junior Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Support Workers to develop your clinical skills and provide an effective, high standard clinical pharmacy service.
You will be supported to further develop both clinical and leadership skills; including non-medical prescribing (NMP) (if required) and via a combination of internal and external NHS accredited training programmes.
We welcome applications from individuals with commitment to professional development who demonstrate a patient-centred focus and compassionate and collaborative leadership.
Working within the Pharmacy Department requires taking part in an Emergency Duty Commitment (Oncall) rota which provides a generous on-call allowance (2400 per annum).
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the Specialist Pharmacist for Acute Medicine. You will provide highly specialist, advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients admitted to the Acute Medical Unit and Short Stay Unit to promote optimised, safe and cost-effective use of medicines.
Based entirely within Acute Medicine; your focus will be on the identification and optimisation of medicine related issues to improve both patient quality of care and safety. Alongside a dedicated pharmacy team, you will ensure accurate and complete Medicines Reconciliation is performed as close to admission as possible and will be instrumental in preventing delays and omissions in patients receiving essential treatment and expediting discharges from the Acute Medicine areas.
The department has a strong commitment to advancing pharmacy practice and embedding effective medicines management systems into patient care; looking to appoint individuals keen to be involved in the further development of this service.
Working on a fast-paced AMU and SSU allows you to be involved with a diverse range of patients, and work closely with the wider MDT to treat patients in a way that delivers the best care.
The successful candidate will play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills. The responsibilities in this role will significantly facilitate your growth as a non-medical prescriber and pharmacist practitioner.
