POSITION DESCRIPTION


TITLE: IT Operations – Technical systems analyst, infrastructure solutions

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

POSITION REPORTING TO: Manager, IT Operations


General Description:

IT individual accountable for the cost-effective, compliant, secure, resilient, operation and monitoring of the compute, storage, network, and telecommunications infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, enabling the company’s information systems. Responsible for supporting activities pertaining to cybersecurity and data protection.



Responsibilities


IT operations, continuity, availability, and capacity


  • Support day-to-day operations of complex enterprise systems for high availability and in compliance with organizational security policies and industry best practices.
  • Manage all changes in a controlled manner, including change standards and procedures, impact assessment, prioritization and authorization, emergency changes, tracking, reporting, closure, and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and testing of disaster recovery procedures for key IT products and services, including the periodic execution of disaster recovery tests in partnership with other IT functional areas.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for the network, compute, and storage infrastructure, maintaining audit-ready records for activity and changes in alignment with compliance predicates.


Information security


  • Implement and administer Security Operations Control (SOC), auditing, logging, monitoring, patch, and vulnerability management systems.
  • Protect company data, systems, networks by planning, implementing, and monitoring relevant security controls and technologies.


Support level I, II


  • Act as the escalation point of contact for IT incidents, service requests or inquiries pertaining to the network, compute, and storage infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Cost-effectively and compliantly diagnose, plan, and ultimately resolve complex, multi-system IT incidents using strong critical thinking skills, in-depth knowledge of network, compute, and storage infrastructure.
  • Ensures respectful, emphatic, succinct, relevant, timely dialog, both oral and written, with users, IT team members or vendors as it pertains to IT incidents, service requests or inquiries. Ensure escalation procedures and collaboration take place if/as needed, working with other IT teams, business partners and vendors.


Task formulation, planning, and execution


  • Articulate, identify, and communicate the business/technical process tasks required for achieving business objectives while maintaining compliance and transparent integration with other information systems.
  • Participates and/or contribute to project evaluations that pertain to the supported area. Effectively and accurately establishes and communicates the scope, timeline, and resources for successful delivery of tasks or activities. Ensure all planned tasks are in alignment with regulatory requirements, standards and/or best practices.
  • Ensure successful execution of planned tasks within the boundaries of scope, timeline, and cost, and in alignment with regulatory requirements.


Project Management: evaluation, planning, and execution


  • Highly effective at delivering business value with the application of best practices in IT project management, demonstrating strong expertise in managing scope, timeline, and cost while optimizing risk and resources as applied to network, compute, and storage infrastructure.
  • Ensure projects are planned in detail and include the most relevant work packages, based on a pre-determined Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that fosters clarity and aligns resources for the delivery of value with the use of network, compute, and storage infrastructure technologies.


Qualifications

Experience and Skills

Required:


  • 5+ years in highly sophisticated, hybrid (on-premises, on the cloud) environments with significant virtualization infrastructure interacting with physical devices and Internet-of-Things (IoT) interconnectivity.
  • 3+ years designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-level infrastructure, both physical and software-defined.
  • Significant cross-vendor experience in cloud technologies and infrastructure-as-code such as AWS, Azure.
  • Strong technical skills to rapidly understand complex interconnected systems.
  • Active listening skills to understand desired customer outcomes in advance of solution delivery.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.


Preferred:


  • Advanced knowledge of IP networking (Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, Wireless) and inter/intra cloud connectivity with on-premises environments. Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto is an asset.
  • Understanding of the Quality Systems and validation requirements, policies, procedures, and standards.


Education

Required:

University degree in engineering, computer science or related technical field.


Preferred:

  • Professional certifications in pertinent technologies such as AWS, Azure/Entra, Cisco, Palo Alto.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
