JOB DESCRIPTION
The Group Buyer - NPD and Make vs Buy will play a pivotal role in ensuring the early involvement of Procurement in the New Product Development (NPD) process. This involves collaborating closely with the Business Development team and Group category buyers, capturing innovation at suppliers, and meticulously reviewing the Make vs Buy decision as an integral part of the stage gate process. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the OTC & Consumer Health market, showcase exceptional communication skills, exhibit strong organizational capabilities, and bring a proven track record of successfully launching New Product Developments (NPDs) within a matrix environment.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Successfully launch our NPD pipeline on time, meeting required quality standards and achieving target costs by proactively negotiating key terms and conditions with suppliers and securing contracts prior to launch.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team and serve as the Procurement Single Point of Contact (SPOC) by engaging with Group category buyers to ensure comprehensive sourcing strategies. Play a crucial role in the monthly Innovation Committee.
- Work closely with Operations teams to meticulously review the Make vs Buy process, providing aligned recommendations for both NPDs/EPDs and routine business
- Lead efforts to further streamline the NPD process and Make vs Buy process as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
- Build strong alliances with strategic suppliers, enhancing our appeal as the First Customer of Choice and capturing innovation early from suppliers. Conduct market research and stay abreast of industry trends to identify potential new suppliers.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage potential risks in the supply chain, including supplier vulnerabilities, market fluctuations and other factors that can impact supply security.
- Supplier Service Optimization: Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and suppliers in case of a supplier service issue and develop and implement mitigation strategies to prevent reoccurrence. Ensure goods and services are delivered on time, at the agreed-upon price, and to the required quality standards.
- Compliance: Ensure that all procurement processes comply with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations
EXPERIENCE PROFILE
- Minimum 5-10 years proven experience as a NPD buyer, ideally within the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical or FMCG sectors.
- Experience in international and multicultural environments
- Master’s degree level, ideally in Engineering or Business Administration and a specialization in Procurement Management or related field.

- Knowledge of relevant laws, compliance and regulations for OTC procurement
- Led negotiations for IP licensing and royalty payments.
