Pharmacists

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) pharmacists manage the ordering, supply, inventory, and distribution of drugs and medical supplies to clinics and hospitals supported by MSF—work that finds them in collaboration with both the logistics and medical teams. They work closely with international and locally hired members of the team to ensure good pharmaceutical practices and compliance with national regulations, and may also liaise with government officials on supply chain issues.
As a pharmacist with MSF, you may be asked to evaluate the availability and quality of drugs being considered for local purchase or to maintain or improve upon certain tools or systems, such as stock cards, computerized data, or application software. You might also find yourself confronted with the task of storing medicines in challenging, under-resourced locations. While responsibilities vary by assignment, in every project you can expect to supervise large teams of locally hired staff.

Requirements

• Compliance with Essential Requirements for all candidates
• Commitment to work in the field for a minimum of 9 to 12 month assignments
• Relevant degree in pharmacy (such as PharmD)
• French language (B2 or above)
• Minimum of two years relevant professional experience post-training
• Previous experience in a low resource setting (priority given to those with experience working in a humanitarian context)
• At least 6 months of relevant practical experience within the last two years
• Professional experience supervising, managing, or training staff
• Professional experience managing supply and organizing stock
• Ability to ensure quality of locally purchased drugs
• Ability to work within a diverse team
  

Assets

• Knowledge of and experience with HIV/AIDS and/or TB treatment
• Professional experience in a hospital setting
