Job Summary
The Medical Manager position reports to the Senior Director Medical Affairs. As a key member of the Medical Affairs team, the Medical Manager will be responsible for Medical Operations and will support the development and execution of prioritized medical initiatives in both Oncology and Neurology.
The successful candidate must be a dynamic, self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating leadership and initiative. The Medical Manager will have a tremendous opportunity to contribute to achieving Medical Affairs goals, improving processes to ensure operational efficiencies and excellence. Additionally, they will have the scientific expertise to support medical deliverables while closely collaborating with cross-functional head office and field colleagues.
The responsibilities of the Medical Manager include but are not limited to:
Medical Operations
  • Manage, track and report on Medical Affairs budgets, projects and performance indicators
  • Manage and update the repository for all scientific resources and tools to address internal (MSL team) and external (customer) needs and monitor their use
  • Manage logistics, metrics and compliance needs and documentation associated with Medical Education programs, including vendor oversight as needed
  • Support the ongoing needs and training for Medical Affairs systems
  • Support Medical Affairs compliance requirements and activities
  • Support the oversight of interns and residents
  • Provide project manage support to ensure quality completion of departmental initiatives
Medical Affairs Projects
  • Support the Medical Directors on the strategic and tactical planning process and content for both current and pipeline products
  • Support the development and execution of selected Medical Affairs initiatives
  • Develop scientific resources for internal and/or external use
  • Assist with the planning and execution of national Medical Affairs led consultancy meetings and learning programs
  • Assist with congress preparations and related publications
  • Support the Medical Affairs review of promotional materials
  • Represent Medical Affairs on cross-functional teams as appropriate and needed
The Medical Manager will work collaboratively with cross functional stakeholders and may support projects in other business functions, depending on business needs.
Requirements
  • An advanced science degree within medical/biosciences (MD, PharmD, PhD)
  • At least one year of experience in Medical Affairs
  • Solid understanding of the drug development and commercialization process in Canada
  • Knowledge of the medical affairs function, value, and deliverables
  • Demonstrated project management excellence
  • Demonstrated analytical capability
