Group Leader (all genders)
iPS Cell Production Core

Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide strong technical guidance and expertise for large scale production of iPSC and iPSC-derived cell types (in 2D and 3D)
• Lead and develop a team of talented scientists who develop, facilitate and drive cell production and automation processes (through bioreactors, screening platform etc.)
• Adapt production processes and introduce technological innovation in line with business strategies
• Create and embed procedures, standards and delivery expectations for iPSC models and provide disease expertise in neuroscience for assay development in drug discovery
• Manage and expand internal iPSC line repository
• Support Leadership Team to ensure highest standards of quality and regulatory standards relating to cell products and processes
• Guide resource allocation in a dynamic environment meeting business requirements and timelines
• Identify and champion new ideas that contribute to the achievement of business goals as well as process improvements of iPSC platform
• Represent Evotec’s iPSC platform capabilities internally and externally to existing and new collaborators
  

Ideal Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology, Medicine, Pharmacology and several years of work experience after PostDoc in Pharmaceutical industry, Biotech, or in a CRO setting
• Proven background in human iPSC biology with a track record of contributing to the delivery of pre-clinical drug discovery projects in neuroscience
• Proven background in iPSC manufacturing and upscaling of iPSC models
• High level of disease biology understanding relevant to neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation. Other disease areas such as mental health, pain, epilepsy or other neurological disorders considered a plus
• Proven line management skills to lead a group of scientists and their laboratory teams
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills necessary to interface with team members, project leads, legal, contract management, and external parties
• Dynamic personality with high level of drive, enthusiasm, and commitment and ability to perform well under pressure
• Self-starting ability and capability of working with a wide degree of autonomy and independence
• Excellent command of the English language – both verbal and written; German is advantageous
