Evotec is seeking a dynamic and results-driven business development leader to champion our Discovery Business Development efforts across Europe and Asia. In this role, you will report to the Head of Global Discovery BD and be responsible for managing our European and Asian Discovery Business Development teams. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track-record in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, possessing strong management skills, business acumen and a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. The SVP and Head of Europe & Asia will be a key strategic contributor to driving Evotec's Discovery business and core member of the Discovery BD Leadership team. In addition to supporting her/his team, the candidate shall also identify, shape, negotiate, and close partnerships that align with Evotec's mission and growth objectives.
The Candidate Shall Have The Following Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Manage a team of business development professionals while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. They shall lead by example, working closely across Business Development, the broader Partnering Team and with our operational colleagues to ensure a productive and positive working environment. Maintain a strong focus on delivering a partnering experience that exceeds our partners expectations. Lead a team of BD professionals to establish and grow new partnership building within the European & Asian regions.
Business Development Strategy: Refine and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for Europe and Asia that supports Evotec's growth objectives, identifies emerging trends, and leverages market insights. Accountable for the identification and evaluation of opportunities for partnership within the Global BD Discovery team’s scope.
Partner Engagement: Leverage the candidates existing network and relationships while further building and nurturing relationships with key pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and venture capitalists to identify collaboration opportunities. Employ their established network in the pharmaceutical industry at appropriate levels to build new relationships and collaborations.
Deal Structuring: Lead negotiations and deal structuring activities, including the preparation of proposals and term sheets, and working with our legal department on contracts, ensuring alignment with Evotec's strategic goals. The candidate will also support her/his team in this capacity. Responsible for ensuring that partnerships are negotiated and structured in a way that enables a balance between short, medium and long-term financial returns for Evotec, based on the scope of the partnership.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including scientific, legal, finance, and project management, to ensure seamless execution of partnership agreements.
Pipeline Management: Manage and maintain a robust pipeline of potential business opportunities, tracking progress and reporting to senior management regularly on the progress.
Process Improvement: Serve as a key resource for the Head of Global Discovery BD and the Discovery BD Leadership team to engage in and lead various process improvement initiatives related to relevant business processes and partner experience.
Capability, Knowledge, And Experience
Strong drive and aptitude to deliver results individually and with teams.
Extensive experience in business development, corporate development, or alliance management within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, identifying new partnership opportunities via platform partnerships, in/out-licensing, and fostering strategic partnering opportunities. 
Proven track-record of identifying opportunities and, structuring, negotiating, and closing transactions including strategic alliances, M&A, licensing agreements, joint ventures, equity investments, etc.
Exceptional knowledge of financial analysis & modelling, corporate and product valuation
Established pharma business development network, with relationships with big pharma and venture capital leadership.
Strong collaborator, negotiator, and matrix leader
Strategic and creative thinker with ability to create innovative business solutions, structures, and concepts.
Outstanding leadership and human skills, with extensive and significant experience of leading and developing and managing global and matrix teams.
Trusted leader with a strong moral and ethical compass
Experienced business builder with an acute growth mindset
Highly skilled communicator, able to engage accessibly and concisely about partnerships, solutions, or products to external parties, including prospective customers and clients, partners, vendors.
Education And Qualifications
Significant professional business development experience and a proven track record of delivery at VP/SVP level.
Proven success in managing to achieve objectives while fostering a team culture and ensure development and learning.
Superior Level Of Business Development Knowledge, Skills, And Experience.
Bachelors/Advanced degree in a scientific or business discipline
Fluent in English; additional languages are of significant benefit.
The candidate should be able and willing to travel within Europe regularly and to Asia selectively.
