The opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy Department.
Medicines optimisation is at the heart of our services and we strive to deliver the best possible patient experience and care in order for patients to achieve the best possible outcomes from their medicines.
Our friendly and progressive Pharmacy department is currently looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our stores team. This role will involve maintaining the pharmacy procurement and distribution service.
Main duties of the job
You will be integral to the Pharmacy purchasing team ensuring medicines are ordered and delivered on time for patients. Working with our dedicated team to also ensure medicine stock is issued out to patients on a daily basis.
There will be the opportunity to work in our Dispensary and along side other areas of Pharmacy. Good communication skill is key in this role.
You will have delegated duties to undertake the day to day WDA licensed activities ensuring that the service and facilities are compliant with all aspects of Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01), and all other relevant medicines regulations and quality standards. Support and deliver related training provision to all operational staff within the facility and support the operational lead in all aspects of regulatory audit (internal and external).

- Encouraging a high standard of work at all times
- Supervise and complete the ordering process to ensure that we do not run out of any essential items, helping to place orders with contracted or most cost effective suppliers
- Act as super user for the Pharmacy Robots, dealing with any errors and training staff in its use
- Assist and supervise for the training of staff as appropriate
- Assist in ensuring there are adequate and up to date written training manuals for all areas to assist staff in following the correct operating procedures and to have in place an induction programme for all new staff to follow.
- Monitoring the quality of services, using agreed performance measures
- To ensure that the facilities and service are compliant with all aspects of Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01), and all other relevant medicines regulations and quality standards.
- To support the main dispensary functions.

Qualifications
Qualifications Essential
- Degree Level Qualification / NVQ or QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services & BTEC in Pharmaceutical Services / Relevant Experience
- Accredited Checking Assistant qualification or be eligible and willing to work towards accreditation
- CIPs level 3 or above qualification or be eligible and willing to work towards accreditation
- Experience as a hospital Pharmacy Assistant, or supervisory experience in a community Pharmacy
- Recent practical experience in a busy Pharmacy environment
- Experience of training individuals
- Managing own workload to meet the needs of a service
- Knowledge of JAC, the hospital pharmacy computer system
- Knowledge and clear understanding of Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01), and other relevant regulations, guidance and quality standards
- Experience working as a Hospital ATO
- Good knowledge of the legal requirements (Law and Ethics) for dispensing and supplying medicines, including Controlled Drugs
- Aware of Health and Safety issues and their implications for staff
- Good and broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice in order to advise other staff
- Good understanding of formulary and medicines management issues and the implications for Pharmacy services
- Knowledge of legislative aspects of medicines supply issues
- Understanding of procedures, protocols and legal requirements governing clinical trials supply and non-licensed medicines
- Understanding of clinical governance and implications for service including quality & audit
