This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking pharmacist with respiratory experience to join the growing respiratory pharmacy team and develop specialist knowledge and skills as a Severe Asthma and Allergy senior clinical pharmacist based at the Royal Brompton site.
The successful post holder in this newly created post will deliver and lead on developing pharmacy services to the Severe Asthma and Allergy care group at RBH. They will work directly with the consultants and clinical nurse specialists and be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. These roles will involve taking part in clinics, having an active role in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds and being an independent prescriber.
The Adult Respiratory Medicine service at the Royal Brompton Hospital is a tertiary referral centre for adult patients with respiratory diseases and specialties include severe asthma, cystic fibrosis, infection and interstitial lung disease. Pharmacy is an integral member of the strong multidisciplinary teams that support these services.

- To lead and deliver a safe, effective and innovative clinical pharmacy service to severe asthma and allergy patients
- To develop the pharmacy service to patients with severe asthma and allergy and support the development of protocols and guidelines, as well as assist in education and training
- To develop and maintain specialist knowledge in medicines used within respiratory medicine, particularly those with severe asthma and allergy
- To provide a consistently high, safe and innovative pharmaceutical service to respiratory patients, in particular those with severe asthma and allergy
- Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and committees
- To provide advice to patients and healthcare professionals on medication issues
- To monitor, audit and provide specialist support for medicines related risk and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in reducing and managing such risk
- To support the Homecare service for asthma and allergy patients. This includes screening and prescribing of prescriptions
- To deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective use of medicines within respiratory medicine, in particular those used in patients with severe asthma and allergy by the provision of education and training, procedures, protocols, and medicines usage information
- To work on the development of policies and protocols relating to severe asthma and allergy and to ensure these are implemented within the directorate.
