THE ROLE:

The Medical Director will be responsible for understanding the scientific, medical and regulatory aspects of their assigned businesses in depth and serve as a key strategic resource for internal teams. This role will be client-facing, with ongoing interaction with multi-disciplinary client teams. They will leverage science and medicine in brand differentiation and communications, represent the scientific and medical perspectives throughout strategic/creative/communications development, ensure scientific and clinical relevance, accuracy and acumen. As part of the role, close collaboration and teamwork is needed with the Brand team and clients.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Develop medical primers by collecting information and presenting on disease states, pharmaceutical products, competitive products, professional society guidelines.
  • Conduct primary research and analyze secondary research around disease states, therapeutic areas, and treatments.
  • Offer a point of view on the most compelling way in which to differentiate a brand or franchise from a medically and/or scientifically viable perspective.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to help write and critically review data and regulatory milestones (data communications, press releases, website copy, social posts, etc.) to ensure scientific accuracy.
  • Proactively provide strategic recommendations based on the changing market to enhance brand communications.
  • Keep on top of new and changing trends in our industry to ensure we provide the most “up-to-date” recommendations for our brands.
  • Participate in medical/regulatory calls with clients.
  • Participate in all healthcare new business pitches.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Required advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MD, NP, PA, RN)
  • 5+ years of HCP marketing, healthcare communications, medical affairs or medical writing experience.
  • Demonstrates depth of understanding for multiple products and disease states.
  • Demonstrates the ability to distill down the medical and scientific information into strategic insights for the brand.
  • Understands how to craft scientific messages around data (understands AMA guidelines, can reference and annotate)
  • Has a working knowledge of regulatory guidelines and can advise and interpret for internal teams.
  • Participate in research and development efforts for new business pitches.
  • Meets deadlines and is detail-oriented.
  • Strong communications skills, ability to translate data.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Collaboration ability to work effectively in a team environment to build and foster collaborative environment.

The anticipated salary range for this position is ($78,000- $130,000). Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
