The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is a UK-based patient-led organisation focused on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). NRAS offers expert services to support, educate, and campaign for individuals living with these autoimmune conditions, their families, and the healthcare providers who treat them.
Role Description
We are seeking a Director of Service Delivery & Innovation (in healthcare charity) to join our team in our healthcare charity. This is a full-time hybrid role located in Maidenhead, with flexibility for hybrid/remote work. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, managing and supporting the development and delivery of our services to the highest standards, and will work closely with our CEO and senior leadership team to design and implement innovative strategies to drive our growth and reach. You will also promote a culture of continuous improvement and be responsible for identifying and implementing new ways to enhance our services.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience within the non-profit sector, with extensive experience in service delivery and program management, preferably within the health or disability sectors, rheumatoid arthritis desirable
- Strong leadership, management, and people skills, with a proven ability to build, lead, and motivate teams effectively
- Excellent communication, networking, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to engage with a broad range of individuals and organisations
- A track record of innovation, change management, and service improvement
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a team-based environment
- A clear understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is desirable
- Experience in fundraising, income generation, and budget management is preferable
Main Purpose of Job
To support the implementation and development of NRAS’ strategic aims, with particular regard to increasing and improving individual beneficiary benefits through access to our services and self-management resources. To lead, oversee and further develop all aspects of the charity’s services and support activity optimising the support provided and growing the number of beneficiaries.
To actively explore opportunities for innovation that will improve reach and access to current services.
To look for opportunities for partnership working with industry, NHS, stakeholders and private sector to meet the unmet needs of people living with inflammatory conditions.
To develop a digital strategy for the organisation embracing opportunities with potential external third parties that are mutually beneficial for the organisation and those we aim to serve.
To develop and maintain productive working partnerships with pharmaceutical and other industry partners working in the field of rheumatology and immunology.
To liaise with health and social care professionals, commissioners in the NHS and Local Authorities, to promote the benefits of the supported self-management services NRAS provides.
Experience
Demonstrable experience of, and achievements in:
· Proven relationship building working with the NHS across the UK, industry and key stakeholders
· Embracing technology and digital solutions
· Management, leadership and motivation of a team
· Development, implementation and management of budgets
· Able to demonstrate innovative thinking and delivery.
· Project planning, management and evaluation
· Higher level analysis and decision making
Knowledge/skills:
· Understanding of the health and social care environment
· Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
· Demonstrable excellent written and oral communication skills
· Proficient use of Office 365, Microsoft Word; Excel; Powerpoint, Salesforce desirable
· Financial management and planning
· Understanding of the impact of long-term health conditions on the individual
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Service delivery
1. Manage the teams responsible for service delivery across a range of areas including information and support, helpline, publications, volunteer and membership services.
2. Monitor service delivery and quality on a regular basis and ensure accurate recording and reporting to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
3. In conjunction with the Head of Data, develop appropriate tools to facilitate impact measurement of NRAS services.
4. Identify opportunities to create new ways of developing income streams for the charity through the delivery of our services.
Strategy and Development
1. Research, identify and lead on the development of effective and innovative ways for NRAS to increase the breadth and depth of support it can provide to people with RA and JIA.
2. Develop an NRAS digital strategy to deliver our services and improve our efficiency
3. Identify ways to harness digital solutions in the delivery of our services.
4. To help develop business cases to support bids for project funding of new or extended services.
5. To lead on establishing and maintaining specific and strategic relationships with health and social care professionals, commissioners in the NHS and Local Authorities, patient and VCS organisations and partnerships, and other bodies supportive of NRAS strategic aims.
Commissioning
1. To lead the development of a co-ordinated programme of support services capable of attracting contracts and/or direct funding
Third party partnerships
1. Develop the charity’s external partnerships managing and developing key relationships with our pharma and corporate partners, including the sourcing of funding from those partners for core services and projects.
2. Research, identify and develop potential new partnerships and collaborations to increase the reach and impact of NRAS services
Representing NRAS
Represent NRAS in a senior capacity to external stakeholders, funders and partners promoting it as a respected, trusted, and ambitious charity resulting in partnerships, successful funding and effective collaborative working.
