Data Linkage Manager

We are looking for a Data Linkage Manager to work with the Science, Product and Digital teams to help manage and deliver the health data linkage strategy of Our Future Health. The successful Data Linkage Manager will have experience of managing data within studies, ideally large-scale observational cohorts.

Our Future Health will be the UK's largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people's health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.

What you'll be doing

In this role you will work with the Science Team and across the organisation to help develop and deliver a data linkage roadmap, managing competing priorities and milestones for delivery of new linked data into the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Use of appropriate project methodologies, digital tools and ways of working across distributed teams.
• Pre-application liaison with home nation data controllers and various advisory groups including the Scientific Advisory Board.
• Management, coordination and drafting of data linkage applications and amendments.
• Work with the Linked Data Product Manager and wider teams to help develop and manage a plan for data transfers and curation.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency and compliance with data linkage guidelines.
• Consideration and planning for future linkage priorities.
• Help facilitate identification and agreement on linkage processes and solutions with data controllers and Our Future Health.
• Contribute to the development of Our Future Health Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance and policies relevant for data linkage processes. 
• Assess data linkage progress and risks, discussing findings and potential solutions with the wider research team prior to implementing mitigation strategies.   
• Work closely with Engineering, Data, Product, Science, Delivery and external partners to collate the information needed in applications.
• Project management of the processes and tasks required to meet milestones, deadlines and deliverables associated with Linked Data Applications. 
• Supporting continuous improvement of ‘ways of working' and maintaining all program standards including documentation on Project SharePoint Sites. 

To succeed, you will have some of the following skills and experience:

• A BSc or an MSc in a health or life sciences related subject.
• Demonstratable experience in human population research programmes with evidence of adhering to research programme timelines and an understanding of important issues surrounding research programme management.
• Experience of working on data access requests for linked health records data.
• Experience of the challenges and solutions for data management in large cohort research programmes.
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Highly motivated with a proactive approach to work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills. 
• Experience of working in the academic, pharmaceutical, charity or NHS sectors would be advantageous.

• £45,000 - £51,000 per annum basic salary.
