About The Role
Reporting to the Head of Licensing, you will be an integral member of the Pharmanovia Corporate Development team, providing first-rate representation of the company, and building on our existing credibility, to position Pharmanovia as a global partner of choice for innovative, orphan and value-add medicines.
As a Licensing Analyst, you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the search for new licensing opportunities and support in the organisation of events and conferences. Working in tandem with the global team, you will proactively identify and assess new product opportunities that support the development of a profitable and sustainable pipeline, that delivers 3 to 5 new product launches per therapeutic area and region each year. Opportunities can take the form of in and out licensing, distribution or co-development deals and you will play a key role in the identification and assessment of each transaction. You will also help co-ordinate attendance and meetings schedules at conferences, and ensure all activity is fully tracked and captured in monthly reports, as well as work to constantly update and improve our B2B (business-to-business) marketing material and CRM system.
This is an exciting fast-paced role that will have you working with counterparties from San Francisco to Tokyo (and everywhere in between), bringing to patients across the world innovative treatments in our key therapy areas, as well providing you with a unique opportunity to learn from the best and work alongside some of the world’s leading advisory practices, consultants and investment banks.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
  • Actively participate in the searching and screening of new opportunities for licensing which are aligned with Pharmanovia’s global business strategy
  • Support end-to-end deal lead processes and prospecting activity ensuring all activity is systematically captured and tracked
  • Gather, analyse, and synthesise relevant data to support strategic decision-making within the department
  • Develop strong relationships with commercial management and local partners/distributors to understand their local strategy, commercial capabilities, and pipeline needs
  • With the support of respective deal leads, prepare materials required to present each opportunity internally, and gain management buy-in
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including medical affairs, regulatory, product innovation, commercial, franchise management, market access, IP and regulatory to ensure a complete evaluation of each opportunity
  • Coordinate internal and external diligence teams to ensure all due diligence exercises are carried out in an efficient and timely manner
  • Support diligence activities for assigned projects; assisting with Q&A, managing cross-functional team activity, preparing materials and completing the risk register
  • Coordinate with Corporate Investment Unit (CIU) and central functions to run business cases using either IQVIA or epidemiology assumptions and ensure turnarounds from respective stakeholders are met within appropriate timelines
  • Coordinate industry-related events and conferences ensuring each is efficiently organised with productive meetings scheduled and spend/ROI-tracked. Coordinate logistics, communication, and activities related to these events
  • Support the Corporate Development team with its activities, ensuring compliance with global operating procedures and timely activity reporting
  • Coordinate market research in support of deal activity and undertake other supporting tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Learn and develop in a fast-moving environment with the opportunity to get real hands-on experience and contribute to large-scale real-world pharmaceutical projects
About you:
Candidates with at least 1 – 2 years’ experience of consulting, investment banking, brokerage, commercial, business or corporate development experience in the pharmaceutical industry are likely to have the skills required to be successful in this role. We are also looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medical, Science or Business
  • Further qualifications (MBA or PhD) would be ideal
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals or investment banking
  • Confident communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Strong MS Excel, PowerPoint skills
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to work with complex datasets and solve problems
  • Good business acumen with an interest in pharmaceutical product innovation and the activities of business development, within the healthcare sector
  • Team player who can support cross-functional teams and quickly build rapport with colleagues and partners from around the world
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and thrive in a dynamic environment with high level of agility
  • Entrepreneurial skills, strategic thinker, and collaborative approach
  • Occasional travel for conferences, site visits and partner meetings
  • High level of spoken and written English
