What you’ll do:  

The position of Trainee Category Manager represents a promising leadership role within our Category Team, where individuals collaborate closely with a Category Manager to enhance their expertise and capabilities. The Trainee Category Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing a designated category or portfolio of categories, collaborating in tandem with a Category Assistant to achieve effective results.

We are seeking our next Trainee Category Manager for a 6-month fixed-term contract.

The Trainee Category Manager is accountable for:

• taking ownership for the quality of their work, the team environment and delivery outcomes
• analysing data to draw insights on product performance and identify actions to address sourcing and promotional activities 
• review pricing and margins master data with the lens of remaining competitive in the marketplace
• Manage the range review and promotional planning processes for your category in conjunction with your supply partners
• oversees (with the Financial Manager) the budgets and financial performance of the category, ensuring the category P&L is met

What you’ll bring: 

• A couple of years’ experience in Category Assistant, Buying/Merchandise Assistant, or Account Manager roles
• Desirable experience in the pharmaceutical industry with an understanding of government and scheme compliance or alternatively, experience within the retail Beauty industry
• Experience in the retail industry, with knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
• Thorough understanding of inventory management processes, including demand planning, forecasting, and supplier management
• Analytical skills to interpret data, communicate basic insights, and support performance, along with the ability to simplify insights for broader team support
