Job Summary:
The Teledyne FLIR Project Manager is responsible for tracking and driving engineering, operations and quality for updates to existing, fielded products, as well as leading new product development to ensure that Teledyne FLIR products and solutions remain world class in the marketplace to support the business and growth. The position responsibilities encompass managing projects related to multi-spectral surveillance systems. Successful candidate will possess business acumen to track, drive project budgets and resources. The position reports to the Director, Project Management and involves cooperative development, organizational resource coordination, coordinating assets with Business Development and Capture Management teams to ensure new products are delivered on time, and are well positioned to win in the marketplace. The ideal candidate will have Department of Defense project management experience and be familiar with Defense Acquisition best practices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess engineering resource loading to support future operational requirements through previous actual expenses on similar projects, estimations based on best practices, and customer input.
- Research budgetary documents, project justification, and general information from potential customers to determine direction of movement to drive product positioning and internal investments.
- Make educated, fact-based recommendations to Surveillance leadership to ensure internal research and development projects are moving products the right direction and speed to provide customers what they need and support growth.
- Develop project plans. Establish appropriate planning and controls details to meet project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
- Develop and provide input to the product and portfolio vision for Teledyne FLIR.
- Communicate and execute project plans starting with Project Kickoff.
- Lead smaller projects independently and larger projects together with multi-discipline team consisting of Design, Electrical, Software, Operations, Quality.
- Lead team meetings assign and/or record action items in project management tools and assure follow through.
- Compile and present project status, schedule and budgetary EVM statistics to customers or company management as required.
- BS in Scientific or Engineering, technology management, or related field.
- 5-7 years applicable experience in project engineering/ management, and product development.
- Export compliance required. Firm understanding of ITAR regulations and export controls for both ITAR controlled, and non-ITAR or EAR products.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross functional teams and deliver unity of effort.
- Successful support of new product development launch and new business capture.
- Familiar with both traditional and Agile development processes.
- Experience leading customer milestone reviews, including PDRs and CDRs, and driving progress to meet timeline expectations.
- Must be a team player with strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in conditions of uncertainty.
- Experience with EO/IR products targeted for government and defense applications preferred.
- Experience working on Government FFP/CPFF programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills to foster a cooperative environment.
- Ability to develop recommendations and justify sound business decisions and strategies.
- Must be willing and able to travel within the USA and internationally.
- Must be able to obtain a US Government security clearance.
- Excellent computer skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project as well as working knowledge of ERP systems.
