Staff Pharmacist

Health Centre Pharmacy is looking for a full-time Staff Pharmacist to join our team! For over 35 years, we have been serving the St. Thomas community, with health & wellness at the centre of our everyday practice.

The Staff Pharmacist will be supported by an incredible team of long-term pharmacy assistants, pharmacists, the Pharmacy Manager, and the LGRx team.

Job summary:

Reporting to the Designated Pharmacy Manager, the Staff Pharmacist contributes to day-to-day pharmacy operations and strategic goals and objectives while adhering to company SOPs and OCP standards of practice.

Job description:

- Fulfill the role of a Pharmacist as outlined by the OCP and adhere to the NAPRA Model Standards of Practice for Canadian Pharmacists and OCP Standards of Practice, including all laws, regulations, and by-laws governing pharmacy.

- Perform all acts of dispensing, counselling, and providing pharmacy services in a professional and considerate manner while setting an example for superior patient care.

- Contribute to maintaining pharmacy staffing requirements and workflow to enable team members to maintain the accepted standard of pharmacy practice.

- Actively promote services and identify areas of opportunity to grow patient base and make strong, lasting connections with community partners.

- Satisfy all operational requirements including: maintaining store standards and conditions, ensuring the completeness of daily tasks and activities, optimizing pharmacy workflow, managing employee issues or concerns, adhering to health and safety requirements, maintaining records and reports, ensure proper handling and storage of pharmaceutical products, and other duties.

- Interact with other health professionals on a daily basis to ensure the proper handling of patient care. Respond to professional information or consultation requests.

- Maintain inventory control and utilize appropriate systems to facilitate adequate and accurate procurement.

- Keep up with changes in legislation, scientific data and recognized professional standards.

- Actively promote a healthy, safe, and inclusive work environment.

- Manage all exceptional and unpredictable situations that arise and propose solutions adapted to circumstances.

- Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills and Experience required:

-PharmD or equivalent

- Part A practice license with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

- Injection certification

- Highly developed sense of customer care

- Superior communication and problem solving skills to build strong working relationships and maintain a positive work environment

- Strong organizational skills to prioritize, plan, and delegate

- Commitment to work well and lead in a team environment

- Flexibility to work during pharmacy business hours Monday - Saturday at our busy St. Thomas locations: Health Centre Pharmacy at 230 First Ave. and Elmdale Medical Pharmacy at 25 Elm St.

Some additional valued assets:

- Experience working in community/retail pharmacy

- Experience with PropelRx dispensing software
