Job Summary
The Advanced Clinical Pharmacist -- Adult Parenteral Nutrition and Intestinal Failure would be responsible for leading, developing and delivering a highly specialist pharmacy service to patients receiving treatment, ensuring exceptional standards of service are delivered.
The post holder will;
  • Provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters in the field associated with Adult Parenteral Nutrition and Intestinal Failure.
  • Provide strategic leadership and management, to the Clinical Deliver Group.
  • Lead on and undertake research, including supporting others, within the speciality provide specialist training to other pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
Provide clinical pharmacy services at an expert level within Adult Parenteral Nutrition and Intestinal Failure, this will include.
  • Actively leading on and monitoring prescribing of adult parenteral nutrition and intestinal failure treatments within the specialty.
  • Providing advice to other health care professionals concerning the pharmaceutical needs of the patients
  • Ensuring correct and safe prescribing, demonstrating expert clinical knowledge, and providing a clinical pharmacy service of the highest standard to adult parenteral nutrition and intestinal failure patients.
  • Providing a clinic-based pharmacy service to patients, carers and relatives alongside other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients.
  • Leading on policy development, implementation, and monitoring for the safe clinical and cost-effective use of medicines in patients.
  • To develop the adult parenteral nutrition and Intestinal failure service in-line with national and local strategies and policies and manage the change process required to achieve these developments.
  • Monitor drug use and expenditure, whilst auditing and interpreting patterns and ensuring this information is disseminated to the relevant clinicians and divisional personnel. Providing evaluated analysis medicine expenditure by therapeutic class.

Qualifications
Essential
  • BSc, BPharm, MPharm or equivalent in pharmacy
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy practice or other postgraduate qualification/experience
  • Qualified as an independent prescriber.
  • Leadership/management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Member of The General Pharmaceutical Council
Experience
Essential
  • Significant experience as a clinical pharmacy practitioner in an acute hospital pharmacy setting
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting Adult parenteral nutrition and intestinal failure services or equivalent.
  • Detailed understanding of the speciality
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrable experience of managing staff
  • Ability to manage budgets and deliver on cost improvement programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience in training and education
  • Identify and implement best practice.
  • Understanding and implementation of national and local priorities
  • Demonstrates awareness of and commitment to the Clinical Governance Agenda
