Immuno-Oncology Biologics Discovery Scientist

The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to Supervisor, Scientific Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Springhouse, PA 19477
Schedule: 1st Shift M-F/ 7:30am to 4pm
Salary: 85K
Annual Bonus: 5%

What we’re looking for 

• Education: Master's degree in Science
• Experience: 5+ years of experience or a B.S./B.A. with 6-9 years of experience in cell biology or immunology.
• Collaboration Tool: Knowledge of Information intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel
• Preferred Qualifications: 
• Flow cytometry experience, assay development skills and ability to perform cell functional assays are required.
• Experience with assays such as ELISA, MSD, Western Blot, etc is ideal. Previous experience in analyzing biological specimens in presence of therapeutics and a strong background in cancer biology are preferred.
• Previous translational research experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Able to effectively present scientific data and concepts to in-house research forums and outside professional meetings is required.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

• Associate will be highly independent scientific personnel to execute several analytical tests and assays under guidance of client staff.
• Associate will analyze complex data, make testing adjustments, compile data from multiple platforms, and provide recommendations by presentations in lab meetings for path forward in a collaborative manner with client staff.
• Associate may run a multitude of bio-assays including, flow cytometry, cell based assays (ELISA, Western Blots, MSD, etc), and tissue culturing/processing, and preparation of associated media or other reagents required to support these protocols.    
• Lead and Support the identification, validation, and drug development efforts to deliver novel immuno-oncology therapeutics for the treatment of Oncology indications.
• Design, execute and interpret studies for the identification, validation, and characterization of primary immune cell and tumor co-culture assays to support Immuno-oncology therapeutic molecule development. Typical assays include killing assays (flow cytometry or Incucyte based), cytokine secretion (MSD), cell proliferation, T cell activation and exhaustion, receptor density determination.
• Culture multiple primary cell types, and cancer cell lines simultaneously under aseptic conditions
• Establish robust assay readout metrics (e.g. EC50/IC50, max response, response above background) for the comparison and ranking of experimental agents.
• Process primary or xenograft tissue (blood, lymph nodes, tumor, prostate, lung, muscle, spleen, and thymus) to single cell suspension for analysis of immune cell and stromal cells by Flow cytometry
• Stain and characterize immune cell population by multiparameter (8-40 colors) flow cytometry (e.g. Fortessa, Symphony, Spectral Aurora)
• Client will maintain the IP on all material and will be responsible for supporting assay development.
• Associate will upload data into an Electronic Notebook (ELN) for data presentation to the customer.
• As needed and/or authorized, associate(s) may provide required on-the-job training for methods, assays, techniques, and instrumentation within his/her expertise. Also, will strictly follow the lab guidelines and trainings completions on time to meet the requirements.
