Responsibilities
The Co-Op position is a great learning experience for future career aspirations and gaining critical hands-on experience within a lab environment. The student will be responsible for assisting team members in the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology group in the following area and tasks:
  • Develop a platform charge variant characterization method enabling biologic licensing application for the Visterra molecule.
  • Perform analytical methods such as reverse phase (RP-LC), size-based (SEC-LC), hydrophilic(HILIC-LC), and charge-based chromatography (IEX-LC) utilizing liquid chromatographic and Maurice systems (CE).
  • Present work at informal department and cross-functional meetings, as well as a final project presentation
Requirements
  • Majoring in Bachelor of Arts/Science or Master’s in, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, biology or related discipline
  • Experience in developing and supporting liquid chromatography purification unit operations across modality
  • The ability to think critically and communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of audiences both internal and external.
  • An ability to work independently, meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively.

Visterra has approximately 100 employees and is in Waltham, Massachusetts, where we have a brand new, state of the art research lab. The Waltham site is accessible by public transportation (red line to Alewife and free shuttle bus to site). A $250/month transportation is made available to Co-Ops. Additionally, we are supportive of identifying and facilitating co-op carpooling arrangements during the coop period, as available.
