Head Of Procurement

The Head of Procurement is a new role introduced to the SMT, to support the growth aspiration of the business and Group strategy.

Working in exclusive partnership with a leading FMCG supplier of raw material ingredients. This is a greenfield role for a newly established function, reporting to the Managing Director and with oversight of a growing spend, currently at sat at c.£10 million.

You will work directly with the group, functional, and business unit leadership teams to address a complex and well-dispersed spend portfolio covering various raw material ingredient categories & related services.

The Head of Procurement will create a vision for the service, crafting and implementing the strategy. Introducing Policy, Systems, Continuity of Supply, Mitigating Risks ensuring financial and supplier assurance throughout. Engagement with all stakeholders will be key to create significant value and enhance overall performance.

Aligning the road map and strategy, it’s critical to implement governance, policy, and compliance systems that will ensuring ESG when progressing to end-to-end strategic sourcing activities, category strategy development, execution and SRM.

Please note international travel is an essential part to role, as you’ll be working with existing and new suppliers. Brokering robust commercial agreements that meet the ever-growing demand of sustainable, traceable and risk averse supply chains.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Design, implement and own a Procurement Service
• Align the procurement strategy to the business target operating model.
• Partner with the senior leadership teams to develop and embed strong working procurement practices, processes and procedures whilst working proactively to anticipate and meet demand in several areas of the business.
• Deliver sustainable bottom-line growth and contribution to Group cash targets via risk-managed sourcing of raw materials, packaging and services at lowest acquisition cost
• Be accountable for the documentation and roll-out of procurement policies in consultation with other stakeholders.
• Provide strategic & commercial direction.
• Provide leadership of strongly collaborative and long-term strategic vendor relationships aimed at assurance of supply and delivery of sustainable cost savings.
• Provide regular information, data, and expert opinion to direct the European commercial teams in their pricing and contracting decisions.
• Anticipate the impact of external factors on supply chains and mitigate risk.
• Lead negotiation of high value contracts.

Your Experience:

• Significant experience in procurement working with a matrix structured procurement operation
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to influence and effectively work and lead cross-functional, international teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proven experience in developing and implementing projects and new processes within a complex organisation
• Strong collaboration and negotiation skills
• Have passion, enthusiasm, optimistic working attitude, good team spirit, and be self-motivated
• This role would suit a Procurement Professional who has experience with strategy commodity management with NPD from FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Chemicals, Scientific and related raw material commodity Manufacturing
