Job Description
The Process Engineer will assist with plant operations according to business necessities and assigned process development work. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the process development of new flavors and process improvements for commercial products. The focus will be on increasing the quality, timeliness, and first-time right of product introductions. Process Engineers take a hands-on approach to their job, including operating process equipment and working closely with technicians and operations staff as required bringing assigned projects to completion. The ideal candidate must demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn and communicate with a variety of individuals at all technical levels. The candidate must be team-oriented, organized, and have good multi-tasking skills.
Responsibilities
  • Uses scientific and engineering methodologies to design and plan experiments in support of new product development and manufacturing improvements.
  • Carry out root cause analysis for issues emanating from plant operations.
  • Participates in cost reduction and quality improvement projects.
  • Generates SOPs to support production processes and equipment design.
  • Leads scale-up and trial batches in manufacturing. Prepares temporary batch instructions and process change documents for non-standard processing.
  • Participates in HAZOP’s and safety reviews.
  • Communicates clearly with R&D, Operations, and manufacturing personnel, as needed. May also work directly with suppliers and/or customers (both internal and external).
Job Requirements
  • Strong computer skills, including using spreadsheet software for data analysis
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively
  • Organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well on teams and with minimal direction
  • The ability to occasionally lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) in a plant environment.
Required Experience
  • BS in chemical engineering or Equivalent academic and work experience with 2+ years’ experience in a chemical, food, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing or research environment.
  • Experience in Basic Engineering activities for investment projects in chemical environment.
