Cost & Commercial Manager / Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS)
At Mace we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about cost and commercial management. Our German region is looking to recruit a Cost & Commercial Manager with Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences sector experience who can provide full cycle cost management services for ongoing commissions throughout the country.
We have an agile working policy allowing our employees to be primarily based from home with visits to client offices / projects throughout the country. Our office is based in Frankfurt, where the team will meet for ad hoc meetings as and when necessary.
Typical Duties Will Include
  • Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports. Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
  • Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
  • Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
  • Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
Your Knowledge, Experience And Skills Need To Include
  • Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working with private and public sector property and infrastructure clients beneficial
  • JCT form of contract experience essential with some knowledge of NEC.
  • Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
  • Previous experience of managing people and risk management.
  • Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration
  • Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
  • Strong understanding of industry best practice.
  • Understanding of hot topic issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, Carbon Reduction impacting Public Sector
  • Capex V Opex Cost Analysis/ advice
