The Opportunity:
Our client, a leading supplier of branded and generic pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare products with a global presence in over 150 countries, seeks temporary coverage for a Senior Financial Analyst position due to maternity leave. This 14-16 month contract, based at their Canadian Headquarters in Oakville, entails 3 days per week in-office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). The ideal candidate is an experienced general accountant proficient in SAP.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assist in financial planning activities such as forecasting, budgeting, and performance metric analysis.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics, identifying trends and issues for management attention.
- Conduct thorough analysis of operating expenses, including budget variances and accrual adjustments.
- Review sales and margin performance, highlighting areas of concern to management.
- Coordinate month-end closing processes and reconcile accounts for review.
- Provide support to tax functions, including analysis of tax accounts and communication with tax authorities.
- Respond to queries from global stakeholders and provide necessary analytics.
- Maintain documentation related to signing authority and financial thresholds.
- Update and review risk registers, opportunity trackers, and other relevant reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and legal regulations.
- Support business projects and initiatives as needed.
- Conduct portfolio analysis to assess profitability and identify opportunities.
- Evaluate business development initiatives from a financial perspective.
- Provide functional support to various organizational departments.
- Prepare management reporting packages, including financial statements and KPI reports.
- Oversee processes related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities.
- Support facility management with analytics and other deliverables as required.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited university.
- CPA designation or equivalent professional certification.
- Demonstrate over 7 years of advancing roles and responsibilities in the field of Accounting and Finance.
- Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and modeling.
- Extensive senior-level accounting expertise encompassing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, GAAP, IFRS, and reconciliation of balance sheets and income statements.
- Proficiency in utilizing COGNOS and SAP, along with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of project management principles and practices.
