We are currently looking for a Junior Front-end Developer who's looking to make an impact as part of a growing, award-winning organization.

The Junior Front-End Developer is a software specialist focused on designing and creating user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces for websites and web applications, ensuring optimal functionality and a positive user experience. This position implements front-end code utilizing client-side frameworks, solves web application’s technical problems, writes complex single-page web application code using technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and assists team members with related activities. The Junior Front-End Developer is a member of the technology community at MHS, and they help deliver and operate the digital technology that MHS depends on to meet customer expectations.

Core Qualifications:

  • With a focus on our 4 priorities for systems development - Availability, Reliability, Scalability, and Security - a Junior Front-End Developer, under supervision from a manager, will:
  • Participate in the implementation of new features, bug fixes, and functional enhancements required by different MHS software systems. All work will conform to the solution development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • For new features, bug fixes, and functional enhancements, the Junior Front-End Developer will help Team Leads, Principal Engineers and other senior members of the team to estimate effort and complexity of work.
  • Ensure that appropriate technical documentation is prepared and delivered to the broader team to ensure the solution elements promoted to production operate as expected.
  • The Junior Front-End Developer conveys a good understanding of front-end technologies, programming languages, UI Frameworks, and best-practices, and has briefly engaged in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), APIs, security procedures, scalability requirements, and sustainable development practices.
  • Under supervision of a Manager or Director, the Junior Front-End Developer may be asked to perform, directly or indirectly, customer support activities and incident response tasks as necessary.


Ideally you are a self-starter who is highly organized and can deliver against tight timelines. You thrive when working on multiple projects using your analytical skills to deliver results. Your advanced written and verbal communication skills will be used to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups and deliver excellent presentations. In addition, you bring:

  • 1-2 years of front-end software development practice.
  • Experience with front-end and UI frameworks for client-side (Single-page Web Applications) application development.
  • Entry-level experience with integrations between SPWAs and Rest APIs. API development using technologies such as NodeJS, Python or C# is an asset.
  • Experience in developing single-page web applications that conform with WCAG Web Accessibility standards.
  • Interest in test-driven development such as the creation and maintenance of test cases, user acceptance testing and automated testing scenarios using frameworks such as Jest or Vitest.
  • Microsoft certifications, Microsoft Azure, Python or other related technologies are an asset.
  • Ability to investigate, document and complete complex bug fixes.
  • Knowledge or previous experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile development (Scrum)
  • Knowledge or previous experience about source-control platforms (Git, TFS), and collaborative software development.
  • A minimum of a 2-year college diploma in computer science or a similar credential and related experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Notepad++, or others.
  • Experience with REACT.js. AngularJS, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bootstrap and/or other related technologies is a must.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365 software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Teams.


  • A natural curiosity for experimentation and exploration, with a passion for web technologies, user experience and its applications in enterprise solutions.
  • An analytical mind, detail, and process oriented, and interested in advancing their front-end developer career.
  • Self-organized and proactive attitude towards learning and engaging with new challenges or unknown issues.
  • Must be able to break complex tasks and problems into milestone-based plans and activities.
  • Must be able to and be comfortable with working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including group facilitation and articulating complex concepts in the appropriate terminology for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated customer focus, active listening, conflict resolution and analytical problem-solving skills with a consultative approach.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships, including resolving conflicts.
